Chambray Top: Similar // White Jeans: Old Navy // Bag: Kate Spade // Shoes: Target

Hi, Friends and Sleevenistas!!  I titled this post “As American as Apple Pie” because this look reminds me of a great American basic.  I have no idea why.  Maybe because there’s an American flag in the background of some of the pics, but the whole feel just felt very American.  I love a denim on denim look, and this is a slight twist because instead of the “Canadian tuxedo” of blue denim on blue denim, we are doing blue denim on white denim.   It feels very fresh and perfect for spring and summer.  So, let me break down some of this look for you:

Chambray/denim top: A chambray top is a MUST for every wardrobe.  If you don’t have one, stop trippin and get one ASAP.  It is the easiest thing to throw on for a casual outing.  You can tie it over a skirt (like here) or wear it with pants/jeans/shorts or even tie it over a dress. It’s an extremely versatile piece.  I have a couple of chambray tops in different colors and I need to pick up some more, quite honestly for fit reasons. I may or may not have grown out of some of them. lol.

White jeans: White jeans have always been tricky for me because I truly feel like they show every single flaw on my legs. Lol.  I believe the trick is to find a thicker pair of denim and the right shape, and quite frankly, wear some light shapewear if necessary!! I realize that adding shapewear doesn’t help with heat in the hotter months, so ditch it if you don’t care.  In this look, I’m wearing white boyfriend jeans from Old Navy.  Boyfriend jeans and straight jeans are most flattering for my body type.  I am on the hunt for the perfect pair of distressed white denim.  You’ll know when I find it!

Mules: These gold mules are amazing.  Ever since I picked them up from Target, I wear them all the time!  They are comfortable and go with almost every thing I own.
