Hi, Sleevenistas! Last week was a wild one. As we inch closer to Election Day here in the U.S., it feels like tensions are rising higher than ever (and so is my anxiety!). Between all the October surprises, the rushed Supreme Court confirmation, the debates, the widespread attempts at voter suppression….it’s just a lot! Then on top of that, tensions are also rising in Nigeria with the #EndSARS protests and the Nigerian government’s despicable and deadly response to those protests.
In case you are unaware of what’s going on in Nigeria, young people, in particular, are fed up with police brutality by the police unit known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the bad governance and corruption in Nigeria, so they are using their voices to protest for change. On Tuesday, in response to the protests in Lagos, the Nigerian military shot at the peaceful protesters, killing some. It’s a DISGRACE!! And it’s heartbreaking. That’s just a brief summary, so please take some time to read up on what’s going on with the #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.
Anyhoo, I just wanted to share some of how I’m feeling. When everything feels heavy with the world, I just like to retreat and be alone with my thoughts/feelings. To be honest, with everything going on in Nigeria this week, it feels a lot like how I felt during the height of the George Floyd protests and the racial unrest in this country. I guess all I can do is pray. Please join me in praying for both Nigeria and the United States. My two countries are both in need of A LOT of prayers.
On a lighter note and since we’re here, I guess I should also talk about this outfit! This outfit was gifted to me by Draper James, and I’m obsessed. This Carrie Dress in Painterly Floral is the prettiest Draper James dress that I own. I love the colors! In my case, the dress ran small, so you may want to size up. I’m wearing the dress in my normal size (12), but it totally didn’t zip up in the back. lol. So, yes, I was just out there in the streets taking photos with the back of my dress open. *facepalm* Oh well, I got the shots though, and they’re cute, amirite?! 🙂
Btw, Draper James is having a 25% sitewide sale that ends today, so this dress and everything else is 25% off!! So, make sure to check it out!
Have a great week, and thanks so much for reading! And make sure to go VOTE!!
