Hey, y’all! I’m still surviving the storm!! Hurricane Harvey has been insane! Those of you watching the news can see how terrible it is, but I’ve been fortunate so far. Thank God. No flooding in my house (well, minor leaks, but nothing major). We lost power briefly yesterday, but it came back. When I woke up yesterday, I was truly scared. There is a creek behind my house that has risen to almost street level! I spent most of the day moving important things (pictures and documents) upstairs or to higher ground in case it floods downstairs. I’m praying it won’t! Pray with me! I’m not sure what the situation will be by the time this post goes live because we are awaiting a nearby river to crest, so not sure how it will affect us (and the creek) yet. I am praying that everything will be fine. I almost didn’t post anything today, but before yesterday, the thing I was most worried about was being without electricity. So, I’ve just been indoors trying to knock a few things off my to-do list, including writing this post. Work has been canceled until tomorrow (supposedly…though I think it may/should be extended to the rest of the week at this point), due to the storm. I’ve been posting some updates on my Instastories, so follow on Instagram if you want to keep up with how things are going with me! I hope all of you in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey are staying safe and dry!! Those of you not in this area, please pray for us!! Btw, I have no idea how all of this affects my trip to New York next week for Fashion Week. I am completely unmotivated to prepare in any way, shape, or form. I just want this storm to be over!!
Anyway, on to memories of better times. I wore this look last week to a happy hour event with some of my blogger boos. Some of you may have seen it on my Instastories. I was super excited to wear this outfit! I actually purchased this striped floral midi skirt the day before the event. Are any of you familiar with the Houston tunnels downtown? Well, I work downtown and sometimes I head to the tunnels for lunch. There are many restaurants and stores down there. On the day before the event, I traveled to the tunnels to visit the shoe hospital, so I could get some heels of mine fixed. I passed by the cutest boutique that had this skirt!! It’s so stinkin amazing! Is it not? And it was under $40. Since I got it from a random boutique, I can’t link to this exact skirt, but I’ve linked to some similarly beautiful skirts below! I love the touch of yellow in the skirt, so of course, I had to pull out my fave yellow block heels to wear with it! I plan to take the skirt with me to New York and wear it to fashion week events (if I go). I will style it in a completely different way…maybe I’ll mix prints or add new, fun colors! We’ll see! Stay tuned for that!
Everyone in the Houston area, stay safe!! Hopefully, I’ll be able to update you guys more on Friday. Have a great week, and thanks so much for reading!
