Hi, Folks!! Today I have for you a special collaboration with some fab blogger babes: Sugar, Itoro, Tiffany, and Shakera!! We are stronger together! Yes…yes…I know that was Hillary’s campaign slogan, but it’s a great slogan to live by! I am big on self-empowerment and doing what you can on your own, but we are indeed stronger when we work together. Don’t you just love when women can come together to support and empower each other? Empowerment was the idea behind this collaboration, and we had a blast putting it together for you! One thing I have been really impressed with since I started blogging is the community! Every blogger I’ve met so far has been super friendly and supportive and more than willing to offer advice, etc. I met Itoro of How I Styled It and Shakera of the Real Sample Size at a Galentine’s happy hour earlier this year. Ever since then, we’ve been in touch and supporting each other’s blogs. Shakera is hilarious, for the record. I love her personality and sass (even though she doesn’t like Beyonce), and she has amazing style. I also love the name of her blog! I told her that on the day I met her. Itoro is so sweet, and she’s a fellow Naija sister. I love her style…it has an edge to it. Itoro is the one that set up this collaboration. I met Sugar of Shugar and Spice and Tiffany of Tcholesworld Blog at the shoot. Both are fab as well! I was already following Sugar on Instagram, so it was cool to meet her in person. I love her style as well. Tiffany is a pro!! I was watching her take her solo shots and taking notes! She’s strong and confident and offered great direction for the shoot. We all joked that we need to take posing lessons from her.
As you can see from the pics, aside from empowerment and togetherness, another theme we were going for was florals and solids. Both are perfect for spring/summer!! As you see, I went with a solid colored dress. I had this awesome green dress (only $40) from Asos that I hadn’t yet had the opportunity to wear, so when Itoro mentioned the theme of the shoot, I jumped at the chance to wear it! I love this dress! I wore it to a baby shower after the shoot, and it was so comfortable. No matter how much I ate, my stomach was magically camouflaged!! Lol. I recommend it, and it’s a great color. You can see more pics of me wearing it on Instagram here and here. I have linked to this dress and other beautiful solid color and floral dresses below that could also be perfect for YOU for the spring/summertime!
I hope you guys have fun things planned for the Memorial Day weekend!!! Was my style guide helpful?? Turns out I’m not going to Nola anymore like I mentioned in my last post. I have some things I need to take care of here in Houston, so I’m going to stay in town and make my own fun or get some rest and probably work on the blog a lot! If you’re in Houston and you’re planning some type of barbecue or crawfish boil or something, holla at me!!! Have a fab weekend, and thanks so much for reading!!!
